FR Il s’agit d’une image de l’histoire de ma famille. J’ai vu une photo de moi enfant, par hasard, mais je ne me souvenais pas du lieu. En interrogeant ma mère, j’ai réalisé qu’il s’agissait d’un appartement dans lequel ils avaient vécu et qui a été démoli peu de temps après. En posant des questions sur ce logement, j’ai progressivement fait le lien entre les expériences de ma famille au XXe siècle et ce qu’était réellement la vie des gens ordinaires derrière tous les grands mouvements politiques. Mais certains détails de l’histoire, variables d’une personne à l’autre, me laissaient plus perplexe. Les contradictions entre les récits individuels de chacun ont façonné ma propre vision de la période.

EN This is an image from my family’s private history. I stumbled upon a photo of myself as a child and didn’t remember the apartment. So I asked my mother about it and realized it was an old apartment they lived in that was demolished shortly after the photo of me had been taken. By asking questions about this apartment, I gradually connected my family’s experiences in the 20th century to what life was really like for ordinary people behind all the huge political movements. But some details of the history, which varied from person to person, left me more perplexed and the contradictions between individual accounts of the past shaped my own vision of the period.
