FR Que serait la musique, amputée de sa composante essentielle ? Sans cœur, pourrions-nous vivre ? S’incarnant dans nos pas, accompagnant nos mouvements et pulsant notre quotidien, le rythme constitue notre expression vitale primaire. Il suffit d’ouvrir les yeux et de tendre l’oreille : telle une loi implacable, il régit notre monde.
Véritable artère musicale, il est un vecteur collectif émotionnel et énergique profond. Le flux résultant de cet écrin musical s’incarne dans mes recherches au travers du groove. Ce terme, tant verbalisé mais peu théorisé, est une véritable discipline à laquelle je m’astreins, puisque typique des musiques populaires m’ayant élevé en tant que musicien. L’espace de réflexion offert par ce master m’a ainsi permis de légitimer ce phénomène dans ma pratique : Unir et nous reconnecter à cette force vitale qu’est le rythme. En cela réside mon interprétation du groove.
EN What would music be without its fundamental core? Without a heart, would we be able to live? Embodying itself in our every step, following our movements and giving shape to our daily life, its rhythm is our primary driving force. All we need do is open our eyes and listen: like an implacable law, it regulates our world.
As a genuine musical artery, it is a deeply emotive and vigorously collective vehicle. The flow from this musical repository comes out in my research through groove. This term, much-pronounced but little-studied, is a genuine field which I feel compelled to study, as it is typical of the popular music that has shaped me as a musician. This master’s has provided me with a space to think, helping me to incorporate the notion in my own musicianship: uniting ourselves and reconnecting with the vital energy of rhythm, that is what I understand by groove.
