FR Jouer du violon m’a toujours semblé quelque chose de simple et difficile en même temps. Simple car je sens que ce dont on a fondamentalement besoin dans la pratique d’un instrument reste finalement extrêmement simple. Mais quant au processus d’acquisition de cette simplicité, cela s’avère extrêmement difficile.
Au milieu de mes années de licence, l’alto a remplacé le violon. La différence entre ces instruments est pour moi comme entre dauphin et baleine. Ces deux animaux marins que j’aime beaucoup étaient souvent présents dans ma vie dans le pays africain où j’ai passé mon enfance.
Avec tout ce que j’ai eu la chance d’acquérir jusqu’à présent, j’ai hâte de continuer le voyage de ma vie, désormais accompagnée par un instrument nommé alto.
EN Playing the violin has for me always been something both extremely simple and extremely difficult. Simple, because I believe that what we fundamentally need in our playing is in the end extremely simple. But when it comes down to achieving this simplicity, it turns out to be extremely difficult.
Halfway through my bachelor program, the violin switched to the viola. The difference between the two is to me like that between dolphins and whales. These two marine mammals, which I’m very fond of, were part of my childhood in the African country where I used to live.
With everything I have been lucky enough to acquire up to now, I am looking forward to continuing my life journey, with my new companion–an instrument called a viola.
